Tehran, Iran - April 18, 2024 - The provincial stage of the Problem-Oriented Applied Research Festival (Research Pitch) has been held in six provinces of the country, and after reviewing 262 proposals by the secretariat, 31 top projects are being prepared for the final stage of this festival at INOTEX 2024.
Promoting Research and Innovation
According to the INOTEX 2024 exhibition news headquarters, this year for the first time, the Problem-Oriented Applied Research (Research Pitch) event will be held with the aim of creating competition among researchers in technology fields and synergy between member companies of the park with researchers, researchers and university scholars. It is being held by the company "Kani Boom" in the country's technology and innovation ecosystem.
This festival was held in the fields of health and medical equipment, electricity, electronics and robotics, information and communication technology and artificial intelligence, food and agriculture, water, energy and environment, and mining and mineral industries by introducing the support capacities of Pardis Technology Park.
Provincial Competition
In this stage, from Kermanshah provinces 49 projects, Yazd 43 projects, Sistan and Baluchestan 36 projects, Tehran 56 projects, Bushehr 30 projects and West Azerbaijan 49 projects were present in the provincial neighborhood, which finally 31 top projects found their way to the final stage of this festival.

Notable Projects
It is worth noting that the first stage of this festival was held in Kermanshah on December 13th of last year. In this competition, in the first step, 52 research projects were evaluated by the judges, of which 22 teams were selected for the in-person section.
In the in-person section of this event, 6 research projects were selected from among the presented research projects in each of the competition fields.
In the mining and mineral industries section, the project for the production of natural asphalt, in the field of information and communication technology and artificial intelligence, the project for the treatment of cancer patients using deep learning, in the field of health and medical equipment, the synthesis of the world's bitterest substance, in the field of water, energy, in the field of environment Synthesis of photocatalyst and design of a laboratory vertical furnace, in the field of electricity, electronics and robotics: Small-scale harmonic control circuit and in the field of food and agriculture, the effect of spraying nanoparticles of iron, zinc, titanium and smoke - water on sage plant as top projects were introduced.
The second step of this festival was held on December 20th in Sistan and Baluchestan. In the Research Pitch event in this province, out of 38 submitted projects and after preliminary evaluation, 14 projects were presented in the in-person stage.
Four research projects were awarded the top titles among the presented research projects. In the field of mining and mineral industries, the project of using ionic liquids in the heap leaching process, in the field of health and medical equipment, the project of producing herbal medicine from black myrobalan after completing research, in the field of water, energy and environment, the project of building a membrane and examining its properties on the amount of water vapor flow, and in the field of food and agriculture, the solar greenhouse project including arch, brace, window were selected.
A noteworthy point in the Research Pitch competitions of this province is the success of Afra Arbab Afzali, a ninth-grader student, in the field of health and medical equipment.
The next stage of this festival at the provincial level was held on February 11th in Yazd province. Among the research projects presented in this province, three research projects were selected in the following fields.
In the field of mining and mineral industries, the project of designing and producing iron-based glass alloys based on improving physical, mechanical and magnetic properties, in the field of water, energy and environment, the project of producing myco composite and the field of electricity, electronics and robotics: The solar water cooler project was awarded a ticket to the final stage of the festival at the INOTEX exhibition.
Top Projects in Other Provinces
The Research Pitch provincial festival was held in Tehran on December 25th. In this stage, five research projects were selected in different fields.
In the field of mining and mineral industries, the project of extracting rhodium from gold plating wastewater and re-production, in the field of water, energy and environment, the project of simulating and laboratory investigation of the thermal performance of a flameless furnace, and in the field of health and medical equipment, the project of identifying biomarkers of learning disabilities from brain signals using machine learning to develop diagnostic support software were selected.
Additionally, in these competitions, in the field of food and agriculture, the project of enzyme and industry, and in the field of information technology and communication and artificial intelligence, the project of designing building structures with artificial intelligence were also successful in reaching the final stage of the Research Pitch event.
Bushehr was the next destination for the Research Pitch event. This stage was held on February 2nd. Among the presented research projects, five research projects were selected in the following fields.
In the field of water, energy and environment, the project of treating spent caustic wastewater and optimizing di-sulfide oils with cold ambient plasma technology, in the field of electricity, electronics and robotics, the project of designing and building an acoustic and electromagnetic sensor for troubleshooting underground power cables, and in the field of health and medical equipment, the project of investigating the effect of the venom of the inverted jellyfish on programmed cell death (apoptosis) and the growth of jurkat cell line cancer cells were the top projects.
Additionally, in the field of food and agriculture, the project for producing broiler chick bedding from date palm leaves, and in the field of information technology and communication, artificial intelligence, the implementation of a 2D-FFT (2D-Fast Fourier Transform) filter on FPGA were awarded the top spot.
The northwest of the country, with West Azerbaijan as the focus, was the last destination for the provincial Research Pitch event, which was held on March 8th.
Among the presented research projects, four research projects were selected in the fields of water, energy and environment, health and medical equipment, food and agriculture, and mining and mineral industries.
In the field of water, energy and environment, the project for producing a composite of struvite organic material as a slow-release phosphate fertilizer from sewage sludge, and in the field of health and medical equipment, the project of the effect of hydroxyapatite with raffinose and glutathione on sperm quality after sperm freezing and thawing were awarded the top spots.
In the field of food and agriculture, the project of hydrolyzing feather meal and producing protein isolate using ozone treatment and replacing it with soybean meal in animal feed was also selected. Additionally, in the mining and mineral industries section, the improved asphalt with optimized rubber powder was introduced as one of the selected projects.
Four projects were also left behind from the provincial events, which were selected for the final stage of this event after being judged.
