Innovation Knows No Borders: Uzbekistan’s Innovation Agency at INOTEX 2025
During the INOTEX 2025 International Technology Exhibition, the INOTEX 2025 News Desk interviewed Jahongir Ustemirov, Senior Expert at the Investment Attraction and Foreign Aid Department of the Uzbekistan Innovation Development Agency, who discussed the agency’s programs and achievements in supporting scientific projects, startups, and commercialization of innovative products, emphasizing that innovation knows no borders.
According to the INOTEX 2025 News Desk, the participation of Uzbekistan’s academic and technology delegation, showcasing advanced technologies in health, nanotechnology, agriculture, and ICT, demonstrated that scientific relations between Tehran and Tashkent have entered a new strategic phase.
Ustemirov explained: “I work at the Innovation Development Agency under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Uzbekistan. This agency is a specialized body guiding innovation activities in science and technology, providing oversight and support for scientific and research projects.”
He emphasized that the agency’s mission is not limited to theoretical research support. “We fund projects by active scientists, technology commercialization initiatives, and startups. We also facilitate the transfer of foreign technologies to Uzbekistan and send young scientists abroad for advanced training,” he added. The agency covers all scientific organizations, from universities to research centers and private sector startups.
Ustemirov stressed the agency’s wide range of activities: “We do not focus on a single industry because innovation is not limited to a specific sector. We invest in any scientific or industrial project with innovative potential, from medicine and pharmaceuticals to energy and agriculture.”
He also highlighted Uzbekistan’s export of domestic technologies to countries including Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan.
At INOTEX 2025, the agency showcased 15 innovative products, all previously exported. Among the key products:
Industrial Product – A metal composite with enhanced elasticity and improved final color transparency, used in paint and rubber industries.
Powdered and Injectable Animal Supplement – Strengthens immunity, increases appetite, and improves meat and egg quality in livestock.
Herbal Human Supplement with Medicinal Use – A powdered supplement supporting immunity, digestive health, weight management, and blood clot prevention, made from sugarcane core, ginger, and rose water, fully plant-based and locally developed in Uzbekistan.
All these products are funded by the agency, with exports handled by private Uzbek companies.
Ustemirov remarked: “We are very pleased to participate in INOTEX 2025. We met Iranian knowledge-based companies and others, explored advanced technologies, and established new collaborative and friendly relationships.”
He added that several MOUs were signed with Iranian companies. On the fourth day of the exhibition, at the INOTEX international pavilion, an agreement was signed between the Uzbekistan Innovation Development Agency and Sina Sanat Khavarmianeh Company to develop ICT infrastructure, marking a significant step in strengthening scientific and technological relations between the two countries.
